Donavan Montague have been named Male Cavalier of the Month for the month of September. The linebacker led the football team with 7.5 tackles for loss and five sacks through the season’s first five games to earn his first Cavalier of the Month award.

Montague highlighted his month by earning Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolades. The 6-foot-3, 218 pound native of Altavista, Va. (Altavista H.S.) picked off a pair of passes, including a pick-6 while adding a fumble recovery in the Cavs’ 34-24 win over West Virginia State.

The junior followed the performance up with back-to-back games with a pair of sacks before finishing the month with four tackles, including a tackle for loss against Fairmont State.  With two interceptions, Montague is tied for fourth in the MEC in the category while his five sacks have him fourth in the league as well.
