Carly Kempton joined the UVA Wise volleyball staff as an assistant coach in July, 2023. The Pewaukee, Wisconsin, native brings several years of coaching and playing experience to the sidelines.
She came to Wise following a stint as a graduate assistant at William Penn University, where she helped lead the Statesmen to a 21 win season and the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.
Before her time at WPU, Kempton was a coach at Oconomowoc High School and the Oconomowoc Volleyball Club in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. She also has had coaching stints with the Midwest Penguins from Milwaukee and the Eau Claire Air Volleyball Club from Eau Claire.
Kempton is a 2016 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. While there, she helped lead the Blugolds to a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
"I want to thank Coach Hanley and the rest of the athletics department for the opportunity to be involved in a committed environment to both success and growth," Kempton said. "Everyone on campus and in the community have been so welcoming. I am very excited to work within a program dedicated to building up student-athletes for both on and off the court success."
