Coach Meghan Dennehy announced the addition of Jessie Aguglia to her coaching staff this summer. Aguglia, spent last season as the head varsity coach at Boiling Springs High School after completing four successful seasons as a midfielder at Limestone College (SC) will have a specific focus on recruiting and defense while assisting in all areas of the game.
"I couldn't be more excited for Jessie to join the coaching staff at UVa-Wise. She brings a positive enthusiasm for the game of lacrosse and a willingness to succeed against all odds", said Dennehy. Â "Her experiences as an athlete at Limestone College will undoubtedly aid in the success of our program".
This past season at Boiling Springs HS in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, was their inaugural season, and Aguglia was responsible for creating game plans, teaching fundamental lacrosse skills, generating practice plans, and organizing travel.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the staff with Coach Dennehy, and very grateful for the opportunity to work with her and the rest of the athletic staff to build the lacrosse program at UVa-Wise. I am excited to begin working under Coach Dennehy's leadership to help incoming and future student-athletes excel in the classroom and on the lacrosse field", Aguglia said about her new appointment.Â
Aguglia played midfield for the Limestone Women's Lacrosse team from 2010-2013. Over the course of those four seasons, Limestone won four consecutive regular season and Conference Carolina's tournament championships, appeared in four NCAA tournaments, and made two title game appearances in 2011 and 2013.
Aguglia earned her bachelor's degree in history in 2013. Because of her strength in the classroom, Aguglia was inducted into the National College Athletics Honor Society and the History Honor Society. She also received the President's Award in 2011 and 2013.
