Courtney Hamm is in her second season as an assistant coach for the women's lacrosse program at UVa-Wise. A year ago, the Cavaliers finished second in the Mountain East Conference regular season standings while posting a program record 12 victories with Hamm on staff.
Previously, the coach spent a year at fellow Mountain East Conference member West Virginia Wesleyan where the Bobcats tallied six wins, including a 3-3 mark in league play to advance to the league tournament.
"We are very excited to have Courtney join the lacrosse family here at UVa-Wise. Her excitement and passion for the game will fit in well with our growing team as we continue on the path to success," stated Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Meghan Dennehy shortly after the announcement of Hamm's hiring.
Previously, Hamm worked numerous camps while also serving as a coach for Battle Lax. During her coaching career she has been involved in all facets of collegiate coaching, including recruiting, creating and teaching plays, developing scouting reports and fundraising.
She entered coaching after completing one of the more accomplished careers in Ferrum College history. Hamm earned USA College Rookie All-America honors and USA South All-conference accolades during a career that saw her establish the single-season record for goals scored (67) while also setting the school and conference record for career goals (256).
"I'm very excited to join the UVa-Wise women's lacrosse staff and be a part of this young, successful program. I'm looking forward to learning from and working with Coach Dennehy," stated Hamm after accepting the position. "I can't wait for the season to begin to contribute and develop these student athletes on and off the field."
A Fairfax native, Hamm obtained a bachelor's of science degree in human health and performance (exercise and sports studies) in 2015.
