Renee Renz

Renee Renz is in her third season as an assistant coach at UVa-Wise. The Flower Mound, Texas native came to the program after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant at Southern Arkansas University.

 

At UVa-Wise, Renz serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator where she travels the country in search of future Cavaliers. The assistant coach also works with players on skill development, scouting and film breakdown on a daily basis.


In her role at Southern Arkansas, Renz assisted in skill development, film exchange and breakdown, scouting, the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, monitoring student-athlete academic success, organized and ran summer camps and planned team travel.
 

As a player, Renz played at University of Arkansas Little Rock from 2005-2007. While at UALR she played in 59 games while making 58 starts for the Trojans averaging 10.8 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. As a freshman, she earned Sunbelt Freshman of the Year accolades before becoming a third-team preseason all-conference honoree as a sophomore.

 

Renz transferred to Texas Woman’s University in 2007 where she played in 48 games while making 47 starts for the Pioneers. She averaged 20.2 points and 10 rebounds during her two years as a Pioneer. Renz was named the Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2007-2008, First Team All LSC in 2007-08 and 2008-09, and was named Division II Daktronics Women’s Basketball All-South Central Region second team in 2007-08 and 2008-09. Renz holds the LSC record and TWU record for most points scored in a game with 63 points.  The prolific point total also equaled the third-highest single-game scoring effort in NCAA history. 

 

The coach earned a bachelor's of science degree in kinesiology from Texas Woman's University before adding a master's of education from Southern Arkansas University.
