Bio
Lav Cvetkovic' will begin his third collegiate year in a new uniform after transferring to UVA Wise from JUCO Collin College in Texas. The Serbia native put up impressive numbers in two season for the Cougars, averaging 8.8 PPG and 4.7 RPG while shooting 42.9% FG and 31.1% 3FG. He was twice named to the All-NTJCAA Team, with a 2nd Team selection in 2022 and a 3rd Team selection in 2023.
Cvetkovic' got his basketball start back in Serbia before moving to the United States in 2018 and attending Spring Creek Academy in Plano, Tex. It was there where Cvetkovic' performance earned him two 6A First Team All-State and All-Conference selections.
Before moving to Texas, Cvetkovic' stood out back in Serbia as well. In the SREM Basketball League he was named the league MVP for three consecutive years (2013, 2014, 2015) while being named an All-Star and to the SREM Basketball League First Team three years in a row in the same seasons. He then went on to play in the Quality League of Belgrade in 2017 in which he again earned the league's MVP honor while being named to the First Team.
Last year at Collin College, Cvetkovic' was also named to the NJCAA Region 5 All-Academic Team.
He chose to attend UVA Wise because of "the great coaching staff and the great basketball facilities." Cvetkovic' added, "I also thought the way they play basketball would fit my skill set perfectly."
Basketball is in Cvetkovic's blood as his father, Branislav, played professionally in Serbia for KK Sremska Mitrovica. His younger sister, Mila, also plays basketball in Serbia at KK Srem. Cvetkovic's younger brother, Sergej, plays collegiate basketball at Caldwell Community College in Hudson, N.C. The mother of this supremely athletic family is Ivana.
Outside of basketball, Cvetkovic is well versed in the world of sports. Growing up, on top of basketball he played volleyball, tennis, soccer, swimming, Taekwondo, and handball. He still loves to play volleyball today while also spending his free time watching the NBA and listening to music.
