Bio
Carmelo Pacheco gears up for his first collegiate season after an impressive high school run at Spotswood High School in his hometown of Harrisonburg, Va. For the Trailblazers, Pacheco averaged 24+ PPG, 7+ RPG, and 3+ APG in both his junior and senior seasons. He was named to the VHSL Class 3A First Team All-State after leading Spotswood to its first state quarterfinal appearance since 2019.
Pacheco racked up the accolades in high school, garnering two District Player of the Year selections (2021, 2022), a Region Player of the Year selection (2022), and two First Team All-State selections (2021, 2022).
After graduating from Spotswood, the career 1,000 point scorer elected to reclassify to 2023 and attend Fork Union Military Academy, a former school of fellow teammates Joe'l Pettiford and Deuce Wingfield, where he was named the Post Graduate Player of the Year for 2023 for the Blue Devils.
On the travel circuit, Pacheco played AAU basketball for Team Blaze in the Elite Prep League. There he was named to the Elite Prep League First Team in 2023.
Pacheco decided to attend UVA Wise and study Sports Management because the coaching staff made him feel comfortable and he enjoyed the school during his visit. His favorite athlete is LeBron James because "he makes everyone around him better."
Outside of basketball, Pacheco enjoys playing video games, hanging out with his friends, and is an avid boxing fan.
He is a son to his mother, Charla, and his dad, Angel, while having 10 other siblings.
