The UVA Wise Athletic Communications staff coordinates the publicity and promotion of all 13 sports sponsored by the College, including press releases, publications, statistical information, and the maintenance of the athletics website and the department's social media platforms.
The Athletic Communications staff provides statistical and media-based coverage at all home athletic contests, unless otherwise stated.
The UVA Wise Athletic Communications staff is not responsible for away-contest statistics provided by live-statistic software at the time of the event. Any questions about statistics and play rulings will be made to the host institution and can be remedied appropriately with discretion of the conference office.
Per the NCAA Statistics and Policies Guidelines,
"Statisticians are reminded that NCAA policy does not permit changes to away-game statistics unless approved by the host sports information director. Conference offices also should monitor any statistical changes, especially involving non-conference road contests, to ensure that all have been sanctioned by the home statistician. It is important to note that this policy applies ONLY to official NCAA statistics and national rankings and does not mean a coaching staff or other personnel cannot compile in-game statistics for institutional use," [such as Stat Broadcast and/or NCAA LiveStats software].
"It is strongly recommended that the host team assign a representative to handle game management. When a contest is played at a neutral site, one team must be designated as the home team. The game administrator will ensure that a timekeeper and scorer are on hand with all equipment required by these rules to carry out their respective functions, and that the playing field is in proper condition for safe play and meets the specifications outlined in these rules. In the event that an administrator is unavailable, these duties will be the responsibility of the home team coaching staff."
The Athletic Communications staff is located on the second floor of Greear Gymnasium on the UVA Wise campus, rooms 203 and 204.
UVA WISE ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS NOTICES AND GUIDELINES FOR 2021-22
UVA Wise issues media credentials under the priorities and guidelines listed below. These priorities are designed to achieve efficient use of limited space available for working members of the media working events on campus at UVA Wise. The UVA Wise game day administrators and managers and/or the sports information office is responsible for administering these policies.
Credential requests must be made by sports directors and/or editors no later than three days prior to an event by e-mailing Darrell Ely or Chloe Burdette.

Guidelines
1. Season media credentials are issued to those organizations that report on UVA Wise intercollegiate athletics on a regular basis, as outlined above.
2. Except as otherwise provided for in this policy, all passes and credentials are transferable within the same media outlet for use by those serving an editorial function. Passes used by any member of a credentialed outlet without specific editorial assignment or by non-working members of the organization are subject to revocation upon College request.
3. Due to limited space and to ensure compliance with NCAA guidelines, credentials will not be issued to "free-lance" writers or photographers without a specific assignment received in writing by the assigning organization.
4. No credentials will be issued to individuals under the age of 18. Admission to media facilities are for working media only.
5. College personnel may deny or revoke credentials without notice and an individual shall surrender his/her credential upon request for: noncompliance with the priorities or guidelines set out in this policy; noncompliance with health, safety, or security directives issued regarding College athletic events; violations of College, NCAA, or Mountain East policies; and for conduct for which there are reasonable grounds to believe violate state or federal law, or constitute a breach of professional ethics.
6. The UVA Wise Sports Information Office reserves the right to change this policy at any time.
Priorities
1. Originating radio and television personnel involved in a live television or radio broadcast of a UVA Wise intercollegiate athletic competition.
2. Daily and weekly newspapers that regularly cover UVA Wise events.
3. Officially recognized UVA Wise student publications and electronic media outlets that regularly report on UVA Wise intercollegiate athletics.
In-Season Interviews
All interviews with members of the UVA Wise Athletics Department must be arranged through the UVA Wise Sports Information Office. Players and coaches have been instructed not to participate in interviews unless they have been arranged through the media relations office. Player phone numbers will not be released, and members of the media are asked not to attempt to contact student-athletes or relatives on the telephone, via e-mail or by any other means. Media Services
Press Box
Ramseyer Press Box is located on the home side of the stadium and is accessible via the parking lot located at the top of Carl Smith Stadium.
Statistics
Complete team and individual statistics by quarter, play-by-play, and full post-game statistics will be provided to the working media. In-game stat monitors are stationed throughout the press box, but official book-keepers are reserved as the official statistician and will have two-way communication to live statistician, per the NCAA.
Internet
Both wired and wireless access is provided to the press throughout Ramseyer Press Box.
Food Service
A meal will be provided to credentialed media on UVA Wise Football game days inside Ramseyer Press Box. Food will be available approximately two hours prior to kick off on game day.
