21-0 Second Half Run Powers Highland Cavaliers Past Coker, 102-84

HARTSVILLE, SC – UVA Wise pounded the ball into the paint to the tune of 58 points as six Highland Cavaliers scored in double figures in their 102-84 South Atlantic Conference win over Coker Saturday afternoon.

The win improves the Cavs to 11-3 on the season and ties them for third in the SAC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams exchanged baskets throughout the balance of the first half, with a 3-pointer from Cy Hardy at 17:09, sparking a run that put the Cavs ahead by five. The Cavs later went ahead by six via a layup by Evan Ramsey off a steal by Kolier Pruett. Coker fought back and took a four-point lead with 44 seconds left. The first half concluded with the Cavs cutting the Cobra lead to one from a Patrick Shelley free throw and Yoro Diallo's fastbreak dunk as time expired.
- Adonis Thomas opened the second half with a quick three-pointer for the Cobras, extending their lead to 54-50. They took a 61-54 lead with 18:02 remaining before the Cavs came back. Calen Lightford's two consecutive 3-pointers and a series of fast-break layups sparked a massive 21-0 UVA Wise run. Kam Roberts was instrumental in this turnaround, contributing multiple steals and layups. UVA Wise extended their lead to as much as nineteen before outscoring the Cobras 52-33 in the half and coasting to the 102-84 win.

GETTING WISE
- Evan Ramsey led the team in scoring, going 8-9 from the field for 19 points and three blocks to go along with six rebounds.
- Kam Roberts had 17 points and a game-high seven steals to go along with eight rebounds. The seven steals tie the program's division II era single game record with Zion Fruster's seven takeaways vs. Newberry on Dec. 9, 2023.
- Patrick Shelley also had 17 points as he shot seven of ten from the field and had four steals.
- Yoro Diallo scored 15 points and had six rebounds, while Cy Hardy and Calen Lightford have eleven points apiece.
- UVA Wise surpassed the century mark for the third time this season.
- Isayah Owens had 24 points and Aaron Hall 23 to lead the Cobras.
