NEWBERRY, SC – The UVA Wise men's team got behind in the second half and their comeback efforts ran out of time as Newberry held on for the 77-72 win Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise had the lead early on, but Newberry made a run mid-way through the first half and built a eight-point advantage at the half.
- The Wolves extended the lead to double digits and maintained it throughout the balance of the second half. With less than five minutes to go the Cavs began whittling away at the lead, eventually getting it to three points with less than 30 seconds left. That was as close as they could get before time expired with the Wolves holding the 77-72 advantage.
- Devario Sheppard led Newberry with 22 points.
GETTING WISE

Bradley Dean led the way for the Cavs with 27 points. The senior also had eight rebounds.

Evan Ramsey dominated on the boards with 14 rebounds in addition to 22 points.
- The Cavs led in rebounds 44-41 and had 23 second chance points to Newberry's 15.

The team returns to Wise for their final two home games of the season as they host Lincoln Memorial Wednesday at 7:30 and Wingate Saturday at 4 p.m.
