HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emory & Henry's Korbin Dixon scored a layup in the opening moments, quickly followed by a layup from Yoro Diallo to tie the score at 2-2. The Wasps used their three-point shooting to negate any big runs by the Cavs and took an eight point lead with 11:50 left in the half. UVA Wise then went inside with their big men, and Evan Ramsey's free throws at the 39-second mark and a fast-break dunk by Patrick Shelley with 17 seconds left ended a 26-7 comeback effort and the Cavs went into the locker room up 38-30 at the half.
- The second half saw Emory & Henry surge outscore the Cavs 53-38. Melchior Hughes contributed significantly with multiple 3-pointers, including a crucial shot at the 10:41 mark that ended a 16-1 Wasp run. The Cavs' Yoro Diallo and Evan Ramsey combined for key plays, with Diallo executing a fast-break dunk at 1:39 to keep the Cavs within striking distance. However, the Wasps managed to pull away in the final minute, with Assad Madassalia's offensive rebound and putback sealing the 83-76 win.
