NEWBERRY, S.C. – The UVA Wise lacrosse team struggled offensively and the host Newberry Wolves took advantage en route to the 19-5 win Saturday afternoon in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
It was a close 6-3 contest after the first quarter, but the Wolves outscored the Cavs 13-2 over the remainder of the game and will advance to face top-seeded Wingate Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Wolves scored three quick goals in the first three minutes, including two from Heather Johnson.

Noley Hiller got the Cavs on the board with her unassisted goal with 11:28 remaining in the quarter.
- The Wolves scored again less than a minute later and the score stood at 4-1 until
Logen Davis scored with 8:47 left.
- The Wolves tacked on two goals late in the period before Hiller picked up her second goal of the game off the pass from
Abby Stoffelen with 4:05 left. Neither team would score in the remainder of the quarter.
- Newberry scored four goals in the second quarter, with the lone UVA Wise goal coming in the last second of the half as Stoffelen found the back of the net.
- Hiller completed the hat trick to kick off the third quarter, but the Cavs would not score again while the Wolves went on to claim the 19-5 victory.
GETTING WISE:
- In addition to her goal and assist, Stoffelen also won a game-high four draws.

Issie Brown grabbed three draws and
Grace Golatt had two.

Kadyn McCarthy each caused two turnovers.
- Davis,
Paige Rodgers and
Olivia Toomer each had two ground balls.
