LACROSSE SHOOTS PAST YOUNG HARRIS, 17-13

WISE – The UVA Wise lacrosse team led from the opening minutes of the game and held off a late run by Young Harris to claim the 17-13 win Tuesday evening at the Beaty-Richmond Field at Carl Smith Stadium.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Leslie Clay put the Cavs on the board first off the pass from Logan Davis 21 seconds into the match.
- YHC tied the match at 1-1 a few minutes later from a goal by Ella Hancock.
- The Cavs tacked on four more goals over the remainder of the first period to grab the 5-3 lead.
- The next two quarters saw the teams trade goals as UVA Wise led 12-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
- UVA Wise would outscore the Mountain Lions 5-3 in the final stanza to grab the 17-13 victory.

GETTING WISE:
- Logan Davis led the Cavs on the evening with four goals and two assists. She now has 15 goals on the season.
- Noley Hiller also had four goals along with an assist.
- Lauren Cole had five ground balls to lead the team in that category.
- Mallory Trimble chipped in four ground balls while causing five turnovers and controlling six draws.
- Olivia Toomer went the distance in cage for the Cavs, netting nine saves.
- The Cavs out shot YHC 34-31 and won 17 draws to 16 by Young Harris.

YOUNG HARRIS HIGHLIGHTS:
- Ashlyn Fraley improved to 13 goals on the season with her six goals this evening.
- Ella Hancock, Belle Hardwick, and Ruthie Mandell each had two goals apiece.
- Mary Troyer had eight ground balls to lead the team, while Kinsley Purser won six draws.
- Abbie Gallagher had eight saves in the goal as she played the entire game.

UP NEXT:
- UVA Wise will travel to Mount Olive, North Carolina for a match against the Mount Olive Trojans on March 10. First draw is set for 1:00 p.m.
