WISE – The UVA Wise women's basketball team will face their toughest challenge of the season Wednesday evening as nationally ranked Carson-Newman comes to town for a South Atlantic Conference game. They will then travel on Saturday to play an exhibition game at East Tennessee State to close out the week.
The Eagles are currently eleventh in the WBCA DII Coaches Poll and sixth in the D2CSC Media Poll. They enter the game with an 6-1 overall and 4-1 South Atlantic Conference record following a 77-68 loss at Anderson Saturday afternoon.
GETTING WISE
- UVA Wise is 5-8 overall and 2-2 in SAC play following their win over Catawba and loss at Lenoir-Rhyne last week.

Sable Burnside is second in the SAC in scoring and first on the team with 18.4 points per game. She is having a very efficient shooting performance thus far this season as she leads the SAC and the team in field goal percentage, hitting 58.5 percent (also good for 23
rd nationally). Her 147 total points lead the SAC and her 62 field goals made are fifth in Division II. Burnside also ranks third in the SAC and 18
th nationally in blocks with 15. She also leads the team and is tenth in the SAC with her 7.1 rebounds a game. She leads the Cavs in steals with 1.88 steals a game.

Katlin Burger is second on the team in scoring (14.2 points per game) and is fourth in the SAC in total points scored (116).

Ella Karst is averaging 8.9 points and 3.3 rebounds a game. She, along with
Caroline Mullins, leads the team in assists with 2.63 per game and both are tied for tenth in the SAC in that category.
- As a team, the Cavs are scoring 76.3 points a game via 48.6 percent shooting, while holding opponents to 72.0 points and 37.4 percent. Their 48.6 percent shooting is tops in the SAC and fifth nationally. They are also out-rebounding opponents 39.9-37.0 rebounds a game.
ABOUT C-N
- The Eagles are the top scoring team in the SAC and fourth-best in the nation, averaging 87.7 points a game. They are hitting 44.6 percent from the field, which ranks third in the SAC. They are second in the SAC in three-point percentage as they are hitting 34.4 percent for the season. C-N is top five nationally in assists (2
nd – 20.4 apg) and assist-turnover ratio (3
rd – 1.42).
- Jennifer Sullivan is the top scoring threat for C-N as she averages 17.7 points a game (124 points) which ranks her fourth in the SAC in points per game and third in total points. Campbell Penland averages 14.1 points a game as well.
- Lindsey Taylor is the main rebounding threat as she averages 9.4 rebounds a game (fourth in the SAC) and is third in the SAC in offensive rebounds with 30. She is also third on the team in scoring with 12.4 points a game.
- Tori Rutherford is scoring 11.1 points a game and is hitting 47.4 percent of her three-pointers, which ranks her third in the SAC.
- With their #6 ranking in the Coaches Poll, the Eagles will be the highest-ranked team to play the Cavs in Wise in the program's Division II era.
ABOUT ETSU
- This is the first of two exhibition games for the Cavs this season. The two teams have met before in the 1990-91 season, with the Bucs defeating the Cavs 98-87 on Nov. 26.
- The Bucs are 4-4 on the season and will play at West Virginia Friday evening before returning to host UVA Wise Sunday afternoon. Their four wins were over Gardner Webb, Tennessee Tech, Presbyterian, and Memphis.
- They are averaging 56.8 points per game and allowing 55.9.
- Braylyn Milton leads the team in scoring with 11.8 points a game, followed by Courtney Moore's 8.9 ppg.
- Meghan Downing is pulling down 7.8 rebounds a game, while Isabella Hunt is averaging 4.9 rpg.
