RADFORD. VA – Radford used a run in the second quarter to pull ahead of the UVA Wise women's basketball team and take the 96-54 win Friday afternoon.
The game is an exhibition game for the Highland Cavaliers, so any stats and the loss do not count in their season totals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Makenzie Bremer opened the scoring after grabbing a rebound and taking it all the way for a layup. Radford went ahead by four but a three-pointer by Emilia Preece cut the lead to 6-5 with 6:19 left. The teams traded baskets before the media timeout, after which the Highlanders went on an 8-0 run. The Cavs cut the lead back to 21-11 late in the period, but a three-pointer by RU's Adelyn Traylor-Walker put the Highlanders ahead 24-11 at the end of the quarter.
- The Highlanders put together a 9-0 run to open the second quarter. Baskets by
Madison Looney and
Sable Burnside drew the Cavs to within 17, but Radford would extend the lead again and lead 49-28 at the half.
- The Highlanders extended the lead in the third and fourth quarters, eventually going out to their biggest lead of the game as it ended, winning 96-54.
- Five Radford players scored in double-digits, led by Taylor-Walker's 21 points. Taylor Napper scored 16 points, Cate Carlson 15, Makayla Firebaugh 12, and Adriana Shipp-Davis had 10 points. Kirah Dandridge pulled down nine rebounds.

Sable Burnside led the Cavs with 11 points, while
Caroline Mullins and
Madison Looney both chipped in eight points apiece.
- Looney led the team with eleven rebounds, and Mullins had four.

The team will have a break for Christmas and return to action on Jan. 4 when they travel to Wingate for a South Atlantic Conference meeting with the Bulldogs. Tip off is at 2 p.m.
