WISE – The UVA Wise women's basketball team has a big week coming up as they not only host Newberry on Wednesday and travel to Anderson for a Saturday afternoon game, the student-athletes will also have the added challenge of taking finals this week.
The team enters the week with a 5-4 overall record and a 2-3 record in South Atlantic Conference games. They fell at East Tennessee State Sunday afternoon 72-42 in an exhibition game that saw the Bucs pull ahead late to take the win.
GETTING WISE
- The team are outscoring the opposition 77.4-74-4 points a game and out shooting them 48.6 percent – 38.8 percent. The Cavs also hold a +2.3 margin in rebounding.

Sable Burnside leads the team in scoring (17.4 points a game), rebounds (6.6 rpg), steals (2.1 spg), and blocks (1.7 bpg).

Katlin Burger is averaging 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2,0 assists and 1.2 steals a game.

ABOUT NEWBERRY
- The Wolves enter the game with a 3-7 overall and 2-4 SAC record after falling to Wingate 58-46 Saturday afternoon.
- This season, opponents are outscoring Newberry 61.5 - 53.5 points a game. The Wolves do hold a +2.2 advantage in rebounding.
- Jess Tompkins leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points a game. The second highest scorer is Marykate Kent with 6.9 points a game.
- Tompkins also leads the Wolves in rebounds with 8.5 a game and blocks with 2.1 a game.
ABOUT ANDERSON
- The Trojans enter the week with a 4-6 overall and 2-4 SAC record. Their biggest win to date this season is the 77-68 win over Carson-Newman on Nov. 30. They will host Coker Wednesday evening before hosting the Cavs Saturday afternoon.
- Head coach Jonathan Barbaree celebrated his 200
th career victory in Saturday's win over LMU.
- Three players are averaging double digits in scoring, led by Zamiya Passmore's 14.8 points a game. Diamond McDowell (11.5) and Rose Gravel (10.2) are the others.
- Gravel leads the team in rebounding with 9.7 rebounds a game, which ranks her third in the SAC.
