MBB This Week: South Atlantic Conference Season Begins at Emory & Henry Wednesday, Cavs Host Coker Saturday

WISE – Coming off of their biggest non-conference win in years in their 76-67 wire-to-wire win over ninth-ranked North Georgia this past Saturday, the UVA Wise men's basketball team will now enter South Atlantic Conference play this week as they travel to Emory & Henry Wednesday evening and host Coker on Saturday.

The SAC games are the start of a 24-game conference slate as this season every team plays a home-and-home SAC series.

ABOUT EMORY & HENRY
- Since the series between UVA Wise and Southwest Virginia's Other Team was renewed in 2021, the Cavs have won four out of the last six meetings.
- The Wasps enter the game with a 2-2 record. They dropped both games of the opening weekend crossover tournament, falling to Flagler and USC Beaufort, before rebounding to capture wins over Erskine and King last week.
- The Wasps are outshooting opponents 52.2% - 41.7%, and are outscoring them 86.3 - 77.3 points a game. They also have a 3.5 rebounds a game advantage over the opposition.
- Korbin Dixon leads the Wasps in scoring (16.8 ppg) and turnovers (3.5 tpg). He also has 4.8 rebounds a game, which is third on the team.
- Draven Pilson (15.8 ppg), Gabe Brown (13.8), and Omari Curley (10.3) are also scoring leaders for the team.
- Assad Madassalia leads E&H in rebounding with 6.8 a game, while Brown is second with 6.0.

ABOUT COKER
- The Cobras are 2-0 after defeating Erskine and Emmanuel the opening weekend. After a week off they will host Wingate Wednesday in their SAC opener before coming to Wise this weekend. In both games they scored over 100 points.
- They are outscoring opponents 126.0 - 94.5 per game, and outshooting them 53.8% - 50.8%.
- Because of the high scoring thus far, six Cobras are averaging double digits in scoring. Jamie Muldowney leads the way with 18.5 ppg, while Judson Coan (17.5), Ian Blue (14.0), Xavier Harris (12.5), Logan Murray (11.0), and Max Hurray (10.5) are the others.
