WISE – After chasing away the King Tornado 84-69 Saturday afternoon, the UVA Wise women's basketball team will now turn their attention to the South Atlantic Conference as they open up conference play this week with a pair of games. They travel to Emory & Henry for a Wednesday evening tilt with the Wasps before coming home to host the Coker Cobras Saturday afternoon.
The SAC games are the start of a 24-game conference slate as this season every team plays a home-and-home SAC series.
GETTING WISE
- The Highland Cavaliers come into the game with a 3-1 record and on a bit of a roll after getting down early against King and charging back to take an eleven point lead en route to the 84-69 win.

Ella Karst had an impressive home debut vs King as she went 8-11 from the field, 3-4 from three-point range, and 8-9 from the free throw line for 27 points. She also tacked on three steals, three assists, and four rebounds. She is currently third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.5 points a game.

Sable Burnside also had a solid outing vs. King with 12 points, four rebounds, and three blocks. She is leading the team in scoring and is third in the SAC with 20.3 points a game, leads the team in rebounding with 8.3 boards a game, and also leads in blocks with 2.5 blocks a game.

Katlin Burger is averaging 13.8 points and 5.8 rebounds a game, while
Jalie Ruehling and
Caroline Mullins lead the team in assists.
- As a whole the team is outscoring the opposition 77.0-72.5 points a game and out-shooting them 47.8%-35.8%. They also own the rebounding margin 43.3 rpg – 36.5 rpg.
ABOUT EMORY & HENRY
- The Wasps are 3-1 and riding a two game win streak that has them defeating King 76-52 and Virginia Union 74-65 last week.
- E&H is outscoring opponents 69.5 ppg – 60.5 ppg and hitting 41.7% compared to 37.7% by the opposition.
- The Wasps have a one-two attack from Breanna Yarber (18.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.3 blocks per game) and Emma Santoro (14.5 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 3.5 steals a game). Yarber is fourth in the SAC in points a game, while Santoro is third in rebounds a game.
- Rhyan Harris is fourth in the SAC in three-point percentage (57.1) and has 10.3 points a game.
ABOUT COKER
- The Cobras are 2-0 after defeating Francis Marion and UNC Pembroke the opening weekend. After a week off they will host Wingate Wednesday in their SAC opener before coming to Wise this weekend.
- The team is averaging 67.5 points a game, while their opponents are scoring 60.5 per game. Opponents are shooting better than Coker by a 42.5%-39.0%.
- Mya Wasswa leads the Cobras in scoring with 18.0 points a game. She also has 3. 5 rebounds and 2.0 assists a game.
- Kamari Thompson is averaging 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks a game to lead Coker, while Mariah Mitchell is averaging 5.0 steals a game.

The Cavs will host Catawba on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and then taking a quick Thanksgiving break before travelling to Lenoir-Rhyne for a 2 p.m. contest on Nov. 30.
