THE COACHES

UVA Wise - Jamie Cluesman     6th season at UVA Wise (74-72)
Lenoir-Rhyne - Grahm Smith 4th season at Lenoir-Rhyne (50-41) and 7th overall (106-65)

NOTES TO KNOW

• Sable Burnside recorded a career-high 17 points in UVA Wise's 87-83 win over Mars Hill Wednesday. It marked the fourth time Burnside has reached double figure scoring  this season and the second time in the last three games.
• With 24 points and 10 assists Wednesday, fifth-year Caitlyn Ross continues to climb the leaderboards at UVA Wise and in the South Atlantic Conference. Ross now sits eighth all-time in scoring at UVA Wise with 1,473 points while her 721 assists are the most in program history and rank third in league history.
• UVA Wise has won five straight against Lenoir-Rhyne but has not played in Hickory in nearly two years. On Jan. 12, 2022 the Cavs claimed a 72-70 win over the Bears as then freshman Katlin Burger made clutch foul shots down the stretch in a game she netted 12 points off the bench.
• Lenoir-Rhyne is the league's best free throw shooting team. Grahm Smith's squad is making 79.8 percent of its attempts this winter.
• The Bears' Blaikley Crooks has found the bottom of the net more than any player in the SAC thus far. Crooks' 84 made field goals leads the conference and ranks No. 18 in NCAA Division II.
• A triumph Saturday would give UVA Wise back-to-back SAC wins for the first time since last January when the team knocked off Limestone at home before winning at Mars Hill.
• Since the start of the 2021-22 season, the Cavs are 5-3 in games played in the state of North Carolina. Following Saturday's game at Lenoir-Rhyne, UVA Wise will travel to Winston-Salem State Monday for a non-conference tilt.
