CAVS HOPING TO EXACT REVENGE AGAINST EMORY & HENRY

After suffering a 76-72 loss on the road in their first meeting of the season, the Cavs look to take down Emory & Henry Wednesday night.

THE NOTES TO KNOW

• The Cavs enter Wednesday's contest after arguably the biggest win in the NCAA Division II era in program history. UVA Wise's 81-71, wire-to-wire victory over No. 8 Catawba was the Cavs first win over a top 25 opponent in two years. It's also the highest ranked opponent the Cavs have ever beaten in the Div. II era in program history

• UVA Wise has won the rebounding battle in 16 of its 19 games played this year. Saturday was a victory on the board of epic proportions as the Cavs dominated Catawba on the glass, 59-to-32. 59 rebounds is the most in a game for the Cavaliers since Dec. 8, 2018.

• Fifth-year guard Caitlyn Ross made history Saturday by becoming the program's all-time leading scorer in the Div. II era. Her season-high 23 points bolsters her career total to 1,577 which ranks seventh all-time in school history.

• Ross also started in her 124th career game against the Indians, putting her one game shy of the South Atlantic Conference record for games started in a career. With a start on Wednesday against the Wasps, Ross will tie the record.

• Ross had eight assists and eight rebounds to go along with her 23 points against Catawba, moving her career assist total up to 768. She currently rests in third on the all-time assist leaderboard in SAC history, trailing first place by just 52 assists. Ross would need to average just 5.1 assists over the remaining nine regular season games to break the record. She's currently averaging 6.8 assists per game this season.

• Junior guard Sable Burnside recorded her second career double-double to aid the Cavs in their win over the weekend. Burnside finished the day with 17 points and a career-high 12 rebounds while going 7-for-9 from the floor. Burnside's season field goal percentage of 53.2 currently ranks fifth in the SAC.

• Junior forward Katlin Burger contributed a career best 17 rebounds along with 14 points for her ninth double-double in UVA Wise's historic rebounding performance. It's Burger's fourth such performance this season with double-digit as she leads the team with an average of 6.6 boards per game.

• Emory & Henry makes the short trip to Wise after an 84-76 win Saturday against Newberry. The Wasps took the first meeting between the two teams after an 18-0 run completed a 15-point, fourth quarter comeback for the Wasps in a 76-72 defeat of the Cavs.

• The Wasps were without star sophomore Breana Yarber in the first meeting with the Cavs and in their most recent game against Newberry. Yarber currently ranks fourth in the SAC in points per game (17.7) and field goal percentage (53.5 percent).
