UVA WISE HOSTS LMU FOR HOME SAC OPENER

Storylines – LMU

Lincoln Memorial will look for its third consecutive victory over UVA Wise while going over .500 in the South Atlantic Conference when Devan Carter's team visits Wise Wednesday. The Railsplitters enter the game on a two-game winning streak but have not played since Dec. 17. In many ways, LMU's success or lack thereof is the 3-point line. The 'Splitters lead the SAC and rank 10th in NCAA Division II in 3-point field goal attempts per game at 28.1. Individually, Alexa Smiddy and Saquita Joyner have been the squad's two premier players. Smiddy's 2.5 made 3-pointers per game is fifth in the league while her 2.4 steals per game ranks second in the conference. Joyner, a transfer from Coker, ranks second in the SAC in scoring at 18.3 points per game as the forward has already made 75 field goals this winter while having shot 51 free throws.

About UVA WisE

After dropping its first home game of the season, UVA Wise will look to get back on track when longtime rival LMU visits the Prior Center Wednesday. Senior Caitlyn Ross continues her march toward history as the guard now sits just 15 assists shy of the all-time program record of 530. The Kingston, Tenn. product's 8.1 assists per game lead NCAA Division II while her 515 career assists rank second among all active NCAA Division II players. Fellow backcourt mate, Nia Vanzant is quickly approaching UVA Wise's NCAA Division II era scoring record. Vanzant enters Wednesday's game with 1,270 points. The current record holder, Taylor Sandidge, netted 1,420 points during her career. This will be the Cavaliers first home SAC game of the season. Jamie Cluesman's team began the year with a trio of road league games, going 1-2 in the process. This season, the league will take the top four teams from the Piedmont Division and the top four teams from the Mountain Division to the conference tournament. Over the next two months, UVA Wise will play 15 more league games during the span, nine of which will take place inside the Prior Center.
