PIPESTEM, W.Va. - - Robin Dotson's UVA Wise women's golf team put together one of its better performances in recent history as the team shot a 679 to tie for second place at the Pipestem Invitational held Pipestem Golf Course this week. Mars Hill took home the team title with a score of 660 behind medalist Chelsea Baker's 156.
Sophomore Olivia Baker took strokes off her day one tally of 83 to shoot a 164 in the event and place to finish in a three-way tie for third place. Sarah Arnold knocked three strokes off her day one score of 84 to card a 165 and finish in sixth place as the two women paced the Cavaliers.
Haley Howard opened the tournament with an 84 en route to a two-day tally of 173 while Julia Kessler recorded a 177 in the event. Abby Peterson shot a 182 with Savanah Burdsal and Erin Musick rounding out UVA Wise golfers in the field with scores of 184 and 188 respectively.
Up next, the team will compete at the Knights Women's Invitational at Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Ky.
