Winners of just one of their last nine games, Coker's postseason hopes are dwindling fast. The Cobras are 3 1/2 games out of the final South Atlantic Conference Tournament spot with just three weeks to play in the regular season. A loss against UVA Wise would be crippling to Melissa Devore's team who have won just one road contest this winter. The team is led by senior Saquita Joyner who averages 12.6 points per game. Joyner is one of four seniors on the team who rank in the top five on the club in scoring. When the Cobras have had success this winter it has come by not turning the ball over and not putting their opponents on the foul line. In the win over UVA Wise earlier this season, the Cavs shot just 11 free throws in the game while the Cobras committed just 15 turnovers.  All-time Coker is 0-2 inside the Prior Center, including an 88-81 loss in the building last season.

Eighth in the current South Atlantic Conference standings, UVA Wise will try to get revenge against a Coker squad that scored a 75-70 victory over the Cavaliers in December. That night, UVA Wise placed four players in double-figure scoirng led by Caitlyn Ross who netted 17. However, the team was unable to overcome a strong shooting night by the Cobras who shot 46.8 percent from the floor. Fans  of post play should enjoy this one. In the first meeting, Cavalier center Meg Crawford scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Coker post player Saquita Joyner netted a game-high 19 points while adding six steals. The contest is a make up from Jan. 7; the game was originally postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
