WISE, VA — A 38-point career-high night for freshman Bradley Dean was not enough to propel the UVA Wise Cavaliers (4-24, 3-21 SAC) over the Catawba Indians (11-15, 10-14 SAC) on Saturday, February 26, falling in a thrilling overtime battle by a score of 92-89.

The Indians and the Cavaliers were neck-and-neck throughout the entire contest, never letting either squad get to comfortable in a lead. The largest lead in the first half was at the 2:51 mark, when a Myles Washington three-pointer put the Indians up by nine. The lead quickly dissipated when a a fast-break jumper from Dean tied the game up at 33 and was fouled for the and-one. He sank the freebie, and the Cavs had a one-point lead at the half.
In the second, the Cavs turned the ball over on their first possession, which turned into a Kris Robinson three-pointer.
Once again, the teams battled possession-by-possession until a quick Catawba run led by Washington put the Indians up nine. With the efforts of Dean from the field fed by McAmis, the Cavaliers were only down by three with eight seconds to go. At the final buzzer, Dean sank a moneyball three-point shot to force overtime.
In OT, neither team let up, but the Cavaliers couldn't maintain a large lead. With less than two minutes to go, A Catawba six-point lead held the Cavaliers off long enough so they could secure a 92-89 final win.
INSIDE THE CAVALIER BOX SCORE
The Cavs ended the night going 44.9-percent from the field — finishing out their season at a solid 43-percent.
On the night, the Cavs also put up a 41.4-percent from the arc, allowing the squad to finish their year going 33-percent from three-point range.
Dean went off in the finale of his second year as a Cavalier, dropping a dominating 38 points as a result of 15 shots from the field, three buckets from downtown, and a perfect five-for-five shots at the stripe. Dean also recorded five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals.
Right behind Dean was Isaiah McAmis, who recorded 16 points. The Wise, Va. native knocked down three three-pointers & also put up a perfect showing at the line; going five-for-five. McAmis also added seven assists to his statbook.
Grayson Honaker also put up 16 points with two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Rounding out the box score was Ben Bryson, who snagged a game-high and career-high 12 rebounds.
The Cavaliers ended their season going 4-24, and 3-21 in the South Atlantic Conference.
