WINGATE, N.C. — Seven Wingate players in double-digit scoring and a late surge from Donell Nixon sealed Cavalier fate as the Bulldogs took the win 106-66 in Cuddy Arena on Saturday, February 19.
INSIDE THE BOX
Nixon and Destin Clark led the way for the Bulldogs on the night, each putting up 16. The rest of the five double-digit scorers were Quantra Taylor putting up 16, Andreas Wilson putting up 11, and Sean Elmore, Vontrez Roberts, and Jarren Cottingham putting up 10 each.
Cavalier leading scorers were Bradley Dean who put up a solid 18 points, Ben Bryson tallying 12, and Caleb Lominac putting up 9.
Jakhari Taylor put up a career-high four points in the last five minutes of the game.
The Cavaliers had a decent showing from the field, connecting on 47.4-percent of their shots. The Cavaliers struggled from the arc, only hitting six of 18 from three-point range.
HALF BY HALF
The Cavaliers had paced the Bulldogs, keeping the South Atlantic Conference 3rd-ranked opponents within 15 for the majority of the first half. It was at the 7:22 mark of the second half that Wingate went on a consecutive 22-point run that the Cavaliers couldn't overcome.
