TIP-OFF TIDBITS
Pete Schoch enters the fifth season as head coach of the Pfeiffer Falcons program in the 2022-23 season. The Division III program has began the year with a 2-1 record, including a pair of exhibition games against Division I programs High Point and Longwood. Pfeiffer secured their season-opening win against Averett on Nov. 9, 2022, with Falcon Daymon Beckwith dropping 18 points, two assists, and two rebounds.
In the USA South Conference standings, Pfeiffer standouts Doug Smith and Rashamel Butler scatter the leaderboard. Smith sits in third place as he produced a 66.7 showing from the field, and Butler sits in third place in rebounds per game with 8.3.

UVA WISE NEWS & NOTES
The UVA Wise Cavaliers entered the 2022-23 season with a bang in the Conference Carolinas/South Atlantic Conference Challenge, securing two wins against King (98-89) and Lees-McRae (90-65) and giving the program their best start since the 2013-14 season. The Cavs' win over Lees-McRae was the largest win-margin for the program since the 2019-20 season (vs. Berea College, 100-53).
Local standouts Bradley Dean and Luke Lawson led the way for the Cavs — Dean put up 43 points overall on the weekend, averaging 21.5 per game. Dean also produced a career-high 10 rebounds against Lees-McRae. Lawson's debut with the Cavs was nothing short of phenomenal as the fifth-year product averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 blocks per game on the weekend.
Joe'l Pettiford added to the success as he put up his own 20 points and averaged 3.5 blocks per game.
In the conference leaderboard, Dean sits in fourth place in points per game with 21.5 and Lawson trails right behind him in seventh place with 18.5. J'Son Brooks has found himself in second place in FG percentage with 85.7.
UVA Wise looks to improve their record to 3-0 as they face Pfeiffer University in their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 15. This will be the second meeting between the Cavs and the Falcons - the first meeting occurred in 1994.
