Concord will shoot for its third consecutive game at UVA Wise Monday. Most recently, the Mountain Lions claimed an 83-66 win over Wheeling Saturday. In the win, Jaisah Smith scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting in just 26 minutes of play while Jazz Blankenship and Riley Fitzwater chipped in 15 points each. Fitzwater enters Monday's tilt as the nation's best shooter from the field as the graduate student is making 70.1 percent of her attempts. Additionally, Fitzwater is tops in NCAA Division II in blocks with 46 as she averages a double-double with 15.9 points per game and 12.8 rebounds per contest. A note to watch - Concord has been a much different team on the road; the Mountain Lions are 5-0 at home but just 2-3 on the road.
Jamie Cluesman's team will attempt to halt a six-game losing skid Monday when Concord visits the Prior Center in a 5:30 p.m. tip. A former player and graduate of Concord, this will mark the fifth time Cluesman has matched wits with her former college coach Kenny Osborne. Osborne and the Mountain Lions took the first three meetings before Cluesman's crew scored an 87-81 triumph in Athens, W.Va. on Nov. 14, 2019. That day, Kalee Johnson erupted for 23 points and five rebounds while Caitlyn Ross tossed in 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists. Despite the win, Fitzwater posed problems for the Cavaliers as she made 8-of-9 field goal attempts en route to an 18-point, 12-rebound performance. Redshirt senior Kalee Johnson enters the game three made 3-pointers shy of 100 for her career while standing nine points shy of the 1,167 scored by Chelsea Lee in her career. Passing Lee would move Johnson to 14th on the program's all-time scoring list. This will mark the first non-conference games for UVA Wise since starting the season with a pair of non-league affairs in Florida.
