Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Chloe Burdette

CAVS LOSE EMORY & HENRY THRILLER 91-82

The UVA Wise Cavaliers' (1-16, 0-13 SAC) 38.5-percent showing from the arc and their 19 turnovers decided the game as the Emory and Henry Wasps (11-5, 0-0 D-II Independent) took the win 91-82 in the David J. Prior Convocation Center on Tuesday.

HALF BY HALF:

The Wasps dominated the Cavs in the first half, grabbing a 16-point lead as they headed to the locker room. Patrick Antonelli took over the first 20 minutes as he dropped a three-pointer at the 14:54 mark to solidify a large early eight-point lead.

The battle between the Cavaliers and the Wasps truly started in the second half as Isaiah McAmis drilled a three-pointer to get the action started. After a back-and-forth four minutes, Cavalier Kervens Yacinthe dropped a shot from downtown to get the Cavs within six points, forcing the Wasps to rethink their strategy. The Wasps fought back with a Gabe Brown three-pointer, but a Tyler Lloyd layup a few minutes later put the Cavaliers within five. With a minute to go, the Cavaliers couldn't keep the ball on their end and a few unfortunate fouls decided a 91-82 win.

BOX SCORE BITS:

Looney of the Wasps led the night with 20 points, with Brown following close by with 16. Their team shot a decent 43.5-percent from the field.

McAmis was the lone all-around leader for the Cavs, coming up big for the team in low-momentum moments. McAmis dropped 21 points, dropping six three-pointers and seven shots from the field.
