CAVS LOOK TO STAY HOT, ENTERTAIN RAILSPLITTERS WEDNESDAY

Storylines – vs LMU

Devan Carter's Railsplitters enter Wednesday's league game at UVA Wise on a three-game winning streak. LMU has played just once since Dec. 18 due to COVID-19 and that came last Saturday when the squad took down Mars Hill 91-47. The team relies more on the 3-point shot than any other team in the South Atlantic Conference. Thus far, the Railsplitters are making a league-best 9.5 shots from distance each night as Carter's crew has the top two 3-point shooters in the conference. Lindsay Proffitt leads the league at 48.2 percent while teammate Irelynn Davisson is shooting 45.8 percent from the 3-point line. In the first meeting between the schools this season, it was Mikayla Kuehne who led the charge by connecting on 5-of-7 long range shots en route to a game-high 23 points in a LMU triumph.

About UVA Wise

Fresh off of back-to-back wins, UVA Wise will look to match its longest winning streak of the season when LMU comes to the Prior Center Wednesday. Saturday saw Jaymi Golden hit a game-winning 3-pointer 1.8 seconds to play to lift the Cavaliers to a 77-74 win over the Royals from Queens University. Golden finished the contest with 16 points to be one of four UVA Wise players to finish in double figure scoring. Nia Vanzant pumped in a team-high 19 points while Kalee Johnson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 points as did Meg Crawford who tallied 12 points and 12 boards. Sophomore guard Peyton Sams tied a career-high with nine assists while adding a season-best six points in the win as the Cavs assisted on 21-of-27 made field goals. Earlier this season, LMU knocked off UVA Wise 72-67 as the Railsplitters were able to overcome 10 made 3-pointers by the Cavs. Senior Mackenzie King scored a season-best 16 points behind a quartet of made 3-pointers in the loss.
