WISE - Men's tennis was swept at home Sunday afternoon in a 7-0 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne at the Jim and Betty Humphreys Tennis Complex.
UVA Wise (1-5, 0-3 SAC) sophomore
Jake Ferner and junior
Dominic Hoffman teamed up at No. 1 and were defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne's (6-3, 4-1 SAC) Rhodri Atkinson and Josh Lazenby 6-0. Senior
Coleton Burke and junior
Luke Jarnagin paired up at No. 2 while the due of sophomores
John Robert Kilgore and
James Srsich played at No. 3 with the Bears defeating the Cavs 6-0 in both doubles matches.
Ferner fell to Atkinson at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 while Burke dropped his match 6-2, 6-2 at the number three spot. At No. 4, Jarnagin was topped by Alverstrand 6-0, 6-1 as Kilgore was defeated at No. 5 by Scott, 6-0, 6-2. Hoffman and Srsich were both swept 6-0, 6-0 in their matches at the number two and six spot, respectively.
Head coach Roger Whited's team will stay at home to ake on Limestone University Wednesday afternoon. First serve is slated for 2:30 p.m. at the Jim and Betty Humphreys Tennis Complex.
