MARS HILL, N.C. - - Ada Stanley was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field Monday as UVA Wise continued its longstanding dominance of Mars Hill with an 81-68 win at Burt Stanford Arena. The senior's perfect shooting night led the forward to a season-high 16 points, 14 of which came in the opening 20 minutes as she finished the game a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor.
UVA Wise (13-4, 12-4 SAC) took control of the game early with an 11-to-2 scoring spurt that was capped by one of Hanna Oliver's four made 3-pointers on the evening.
Trailing 17-11 after the opening quarter, Mars Hill (2-16, 2-16 SAC) spend the rest of the evening playing catch up.
The hosts made it somewhat interesting down the stretch when Hannah Chandler's 3-pointer cut the lead to 76-66 to cap a 17-to-6 scoring run.
Freshman Peyton Sams would end any hope of a comeback by the Lions when she drained a right-wing 3-pointer to run the lead back to 13 with just over a minute to play.
Sophomore Caitlyn Ross stuffed the stat sheet as usual. The guard scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out seven assists. Oliver joined Stanley and Ross in double figure scoring as she finished with 12 points, all coming from beyond the 3-point line

UVA Wise must defeat Tusculum in the regular season finale Wednesday and have Catawba suffer a defeat to garner the No. 3 seed in the tournament. Otherwise, Cluesman's crew will be the No. 4 seed and play at home to start the tournament Saturday.
