Women's Basketball Heads to Charlotte Saturday

Storylines – vs Queens University
Kristian Eanes is averaging a team-high 16.7 points points per game to lead a trio of Royals averaging double figure scoring heading into Saturday's home tilt with UVA Wise. Queens will be attempting to halt a two-game losing streak that has seen Sarah Jansen's squad lose by an average of 15 points per game. Eanes has made her mark by getting to the charity stripe this winter, the junior leads the conference in free throw attempts (155) and free throws made (108). The guard also ranks 13th nationally in steals per game at 3.0 per contest. In the first meeting between the two schools, Eanes was held to 11 points and kept in check in terms of getting to the foul line. The junior finished the game 2-of-3 from the stripe  while also recording just one steal. The game with UVA Wise is the start of an extended home stretch for Queens, the Royals will play three of their next four at home and to this point have posted a 3-7 record at home.
About UVA Wise
A game back of Lenoir-Rhyne for the final South Atlantic Conference Tournament spot, UVA Wise heads to Queens University of Charlotte for a pivotal league contest. The Cavaliers upended the Royals 78-59 in Wise earlier this season behind 23 points from freshman Nia Vanzant and 18 points from redshirt junior Kalee Johnson. Defense was also key to the win as UVA Wise limited Queens to just two made 3-pointers, the two made triples are tied for the fewest by a Cavaliers opponent this winter. Coach Jamie Cluesman's team is coming off another solid defensive performance, albeit in a loss. UVA Wise held Lincoln Memorial to 30 percent shooting and a 3-of-18 showing from beyond the arc Wednesday when the Railsplitters scored a 65-59 triumph. Cavalier guards have been unable to complain about playing time this winter, junior Hanna Oliver leads the SAC and ranks 15th nationally in minutes played having already surpassed 845 minute mark of the season while freshman Caitlyn Ross is second in the league and 33rd nationally having played 814 minutes. Ross and fellow freshman Nia Vanzant are the second and third highest scoring freshman in the league. Vanzant is averaging 13.5 points per game while Ross is netting 13.3 points per game. Saturday's game is the first of back-to-back road games for UVA Wise. The Cavaliers are just 2-8 away from the Prior Center this season and will play three of their final five games on the road.
