Storylines – vs WINGATE UNIVERSITY
Wingate enters into Wednesday night's contest with a 1-2 record after most recently defeating Catawba by 21 points Saturday afternoon. In the Bulldogs win at Catawba, Wingate connected on 18 three-pointers to cruise to victory. The team went a combined 12-for-35 from behind the arc in the two games prior to Saturday's win. Twelfth-year head coach Brian Good's squad was picked to finish seventh in this year's South Atlantic Conference Preseason Poll. The Bulldogs return their two leading scorers from a season ago including preseason all-SAC selection redshirt junior guard Jarren Cottingham. Last season, Cottingham led his team with 18.2 points per game (2nd in the SAC). Through the first three games of the campaign, Cottingham is registering a team-leading 18 ppg while four more Bulldogs are averaging double-digit points. Redshirt senior forward Quantra Taylor boasts a team-leading 11 boards per game while redshirt junior guard Francis Sio is dishing out a team-high 3.7 assists per game. Coach Good's program will return to the road this weekend for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off at Queens (N.C.) Saturday night.

Cameron Whiteside picked up where he left off last year, dropping a career-high 42 points. UVA Wise dropped its first game of the year, 109-96, despite Whiteside's career-high, including 24 points in the first half. The Thomasville, North Carolina product also recorded a career-high 18 made free throws, going 18-for-19 at the line in the loss while his team-high 11 boards gave the guard his seventh career double-double. Whiteside's performance earned him the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Player of the Week, the first player of the week honor of Whiteside's career. Fellow juniors

Tyler Lloyd also registered double-digit points with Carter scoring 17 in his first start since his season-ending injury last year and Lloyd adding 16 in his debut. The Cavs and Bulldogs last met in February as Wingate posted a 10-point victory. In that game, Whiteside finished with a game-high 23 points while shooting 50 percent from the field.
