Storylines – vs. Anderson University
Head coach Jeff Brookman's team enters into Saturday afternoon's game coming off a one-point, 92-91, win over Catawba College on the road this past Wednesday. It was the highest scoring game of the season for the Trojans who now hold a 10-7 overall mark and are 5-6 in the South Atlantic Conference. Since UVA Wise and Anderson last met in the final game of November, the Trojans have gone 7-4, including a 4-1 December when the team picked up conference wins over Carson-Newman and Lenoir-Rhyne. Junior Quin Nottingham leads the league in scoring so far this campaign averaging 20.8 points per game and claims the sixth-best free throw shooting percentage in the SAC at 86.4 percent. Redshirt senior Shawn Bernard's team-leading five assists per game place him third in the conference while his 5.1 rebounds per game follow junior Josh Livingston's team-high 6.8 boards per contest. This season, Anderson is averaging 77.4 points per game and holds the fourth-best field goal percentage in the league (46.7 percent). From behind the arc, the Trojans are shooting 35.2 percent on 8.1 made three-pointers per game. Anderson is shooting 71.2 percent from the charity stripe and collecting 33.9 rebounds per game at a - 4.6 margin. The team is also dishing out 12.1 assists per game and recording 6.2 steals per contest. Coach Brookman's squad will stay home for their final game of January, taking on No. 16 Queens (NC) Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.

UVA Wise attempted a late rally against the Eagles of Carson-Newman University, but were unable to complete the comeback as the Cavalier men fell in a 78-69 decision Wednesday night. UVA Wise will look to pick up its first win of 2020 at Anderson after defeating the Trojans earlier this season, 90-75, inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center. In the two teams first-ever matchup, Whiteside and Parris each recorded 20-point performances with Whiteside posting a game-high 23 points while Parris added 20 points en route to the Cavaliers first SAC win. As a team, UVA Wise is averaging 79 points per game and shooting 44.1 percent from the field. On the glass, opponents are posting 38.4 rebounds per game to 36.4 boards per contest for UVA Wise. In the league, UVA Wise ranks second in assists (16.5 per game) and fifth in defensive rebounds (26.9 per game).
