Cavs Welcome Bobcats for Home Opener

Storylines – vs Lees-McRae
Former NBA player and East Tennessee State University standout Keith "Mister" Jennings has his Lees-McRae Bobcats on a three-game winning streak after starting the year 0-2. During the winning streak, Lees-McRae has downed a pair of South Atlantic Conference members. The club knocked off Queens University on the road 68-57 to start the streak before returning home to upend Mars Hill 82-70. Most recently, Jennings' team took down Bluefield State 80-76 in double overtime. The team is led by sophomore Destiny Johnson who is scoring a team-high 13.4 points per game. The Bobcats have been fairly prolific from beyond the arc. Through the first five games, the team is making 6.4 3-point field goals per game. Johnson (7), Tina Shuff (6) and Karli Mason (6) have combined to make 19 of the team's 32 shots from distance. Monday's game is the start of a five-game road trip for the Bobcats. Thus far, Lees-McRae is 1-2 away from home this season after sporting an 8-5 mark on the road last winter.
About UVa-Wise
UVa-Wise is coming off arguably the program's biggest win of the Jamie Cluesman era. Last time out, the team outlasted Concord 87-81 behind a career-high 21 points from Kalee Johnson. Teammate Hanna Oliver also netted 20 while freshman Caitlyn Ross put together the best game of her young career. The point guard tossed in a season-high 18 points, while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out seven assists against just one turnover in 40 minutes of action. Ross was joined by Johnson, Oliver and Cynita Webb has starters who logged every minute of game time. Through the season's first three games, UVa-Wise is shooting the ball at a blistering pace. Cluesman's crew is making 52.2 percent of its field goal attempts to lead the SAC and rank sixth nationally in the category. Ross' ability to create shots for her teammates is a big reason for the early season shooting success. The freshman leads the league and ranks 12th nationally in assists per game at 6.3. Webb's career and season-long pursuit of recording 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds is off to a good start this season. Webb is tallying 17.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game to check in with 849 points and 705 career rebounds. The game starts a three-game home stand for the Cavs and is the final non-conference game prior to the start of SAC play. Next up, UVa-Wise  hosts Mars Hill on Nov. 26 for the program's first ever SAC contest.
