BRISTOL, Tenn. – Men's tennis dropped its final match of the fall to Lees-McRae College Sunday afternoon, 7-0.
In doubles, UVa-Wise (3-3) suffered a pair of losses at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots as Lees-McRae (2-2) took the doubles point. Freshmen Cleve Packer and Connor Giza fell, 6-3, at No. 1 while fellow freshmen John Robert Kilgore and James Srsich fell, 6-2, to their opponents.
Packer managed to win four games in his first set, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-0 to the Bobcats' Miodras Popovich. Giza was defeated 6-0 , 6-1 at No.2 while Jarnagin was swept, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot. Junior Coleton Burke lost his set, 8-1, to Lees-McRae's Matt Meluch at No. 4. Kilgore was swept, 8-0, at the No. 5 position while senior John Hamilton fell, 8-3, at No. 6 to his opponent.
Head coach Roger Whited's team will return to action in February to commence the spring championship season.
