Shepherd will look to win its third consecutive game while claiming a season-series sweep of UVa-Wise Saturday. Most recently, the Rams scored a 76-72 overtime victory at Concord Thursday. In the win, guard Morgan Arden tossed in a game-high 35 points while Sydney Clayton had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Jenna Eckleberry's squad faced a nine point deficit with 6:20 to play before charging back to tie the game in the final moments. In the overtime session, Tiffany McKinney's 3-pointer with just over a minute to play tied the game before an Arden layup with 13 ticks remaining provided the winning field goal. Arden was also a force for the Rams in their first meeting against UVa-Wise. The guard poured in 22 points while making 8-of-9 free throws and 7-of-16 field goal attempts. The senior's 22.8 points per game is second in the conference.
UVa-Wise will look to rebound from Thursday's 61-50 loss to Fairmont State. In the loss, sophomore Cynita Webb registered her 10th double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The 10 points also marked the 14th time this year the forward from Virginia Beach, Va. has reached double-figure scoring. Earlier this season, the Cavaliers suffered a 65-53 setback at Shepherd. In the loss, Elise Clyburn's team committed 26 turnovers while making just 2-of-10 shots from beyond the arc. An area the team did find success was on the boards. UVa-Wise out rebounded Shepherd 41-28 in the contest while limiting the Rams to nine offensive rebounds. Shepherd has not won at the Prior Center since Jan. 10, 2015 when the club posted a 71-55 win in Wise. Following the game, the Cavs will play their final two home games of the season next when Urbana University and Notre Dame College visit the Prior Center on Thursday and Saturday.
