Cavalier Women Wrap Up Season at Concord

Storylines – vs Concord

Assured a berth in the league tournament, Concord will attempt to move from the No. 10 seed to the No. 9 seed for next week's league tournament. Veteran coach Kenny Osborne's team is led by Madison May's 16.7 points per game and freshman post player Riley Fitzwater who is averaging a double-double at 13.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. Fitzwater leads all of NCAA Division II in field goal percentage at 70.7 percent. Earlier this season, UVa-Wise dropped a 67-64 decision to the Mountain Lions. In the game, Fitzwater was limited to two points on 1-of-3 shooting. May led the way with 18 points while Lindsey Overbey and Emily Boothe netted 14 points each in the triumph.

Entering the final game of the season, sophomore forward Cynita Webb needs 19 rebounds to average a double-double for the season. Entering Saturday, Webb is posting a team-high 11.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The Virginia Beach, Va. product is shooting 53.1 percent from the field and has tallied 11 double-doubles in her second collegiate campaign. Earlier this year, Webb posted 11 points and 16 rebounds in 28 minutes against Concord. UVa-Wise was eliminated from postseason contention with its 61-46 loss at the University of Charleston Wednesday. UVa-Wise will return its entire roster for the 2018-19 campaign.
