WISE, Va. - - Glenville State used a 24-0 scoring spurt in the second quarter to overcome an early two point deficit en route to a 105-69 Mountain East Conference women's basketball victory over UVa-Wise at the Prior Center Saturday.
Glenville State (8-1, 5-1 MEC) forced 41 turnovers in the win as Zakiyah Winfield came off the bench to record a game-high six steals as part of a 30-steal performance for the Pioneers.
Guard Emily Stoller led the way for GSC as she finished 7-for-13 from the field to tie for game-high scoring honors with 21.
UVa-Wise (4-5, 3-3 MEC) was led by junior Cynita Webb who had the first 20-20 game of her career. The forward scored 21 points while grabbing a career-high 23 rebounds. She was the lone UVa-Wise player to finish in double figure scoring for the Cavaliers.
Next up, UVa-Wise will travel to Bluefield State on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m.
