Box Score RICHMOND, Va. - - Men's basketball was put to the test early this season as the Cavaliers opened their campaign with an exhibition game against Division I opponent, the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams. The Cavalier men were outlasted by the Rams, 87-41, inside the Siegel Center.
Freshman Briggs Parris led the Cavs in scoring with nine points on three shots from beyond the arc. Fellow freshman Kaeleb Carter posted seven points, five rebounds, and three steals. Junior Michal Seals registered a team-high six rebounds while junior Chance Sheffey went 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
UVa-Wise recorded eight points inside the paint, seven points off of turnovers, and 15 points from the bench. The team was 16-for-20 (80.0%) from the free throw line on the night.
The Cavs will play their final exhibition game next Tuesday, Nov. 6 against the University of Pikeville on the road. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
