UVa-Wise last won at Shepherd on Jan. 11, 2014 when the Cavs won 73-58 at the Butcher Center.
UVa-Wise came up just short Thursday at Fairmont State as the Cavaliers dropped a 74-66 decision. Despite the loss, UVa-Wise had one of its more balanced scoring efforts of the year. Freshman Ada Stanley recorded a season-high 12 points in her first collegiate start while sophomore Cynita Webb posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Bianca Lockamy had 11 points while Adalmaryz Rivera - Gomez and Hanna Oliver had 10 points each. The 10 points by Rivera - Gomez marked the first time in the junior's career that she had recorded double digit scoring totals in back-to-back games while the double-double by Webb was the fifth of the season. The Cavs also shortened their rotation as all five starters played at least 27 minutes in the contest; UVa-Wise received just 13 points off the bench in the game. Five of the 13 points came from Judy Kaylynn Cummings who went 2-of-5 from the field. Oliver's 10 points marked the fifth consecutive game the freshman has cracked double-figure scoring and the 10th time the guard has reached at least 10 points in her inaugural collegiate campaign. The Cavs have yet to win a road game and are in danger of digging themselves too big of a hole in terms of making the league tournament. Currently, the team is a game out of the final tournament berth but must pass two schools to reach the No. 10 spot in the standings.
