Cavalier Women Look for Season Sweep of Bobcats Wednesday

Storylines – vs west virginia wesleyan

West Virginia Wesleyan will attempt to halt a seven-game losing skid and earn its first ever victory over UVa-Wise Wednesday. Like the Cavaliers, the Bobcats have struggled to put the ball in the basket this season averaging just 64.1 points per game. In its current losing skid, Wesleyan has scored 70 or more points just once and is coming off a 92-59 loss to Glenville State. Mari Stewart is the team's leader as she is averaging 13.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest. In her team's 54-47 loss at UVa-Wise earlier this season, Stewart scored a team-high 11 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. The Bobcats shot just 29.9 percent from the floor, which included a 2-of-15 showing from beyond the arc, in the defeat. Wesleyan enters play 11th in the league standings, a game behind Fairmont State for the final berth in next month's league tournament.

About UVa-Wise

UVa-Wise will attempt to claim its 10th consecutive victory over West Virginia Wesleyan since the formation of the MEC. Earlier this season, the Cavs used a 10-point, 11-rebound performance from Cynita Webb and 10 points off the bench from Ada Stanley to beat the Bobcats 54-47 in the Prior Center. Like Wesleyan, Elise Clyburn's team finds itself in must win mode if it's to make the conference tournament. Finishing games has been an issue for UVa-Wise, the team has lost seven games by 10 points or less, including a 67-64 loss to Concord Saturday. Webb is nearly averaging a double-double on the season with 10.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. The former Landstown High School product has tallied seven double-doubles this season and is coming off a career-high 16 rebound outing Saturday. The game begins a stretch of three out of four on the road for UVa-WIse. Thus far, the Cavs are 0-8 on the road this season. The team's last true road win came on Feb. 18, 2017 when the team recorded a 101-74 win at Urbana University.
