Cavalier Women Look to Continue Streak Against Mountain Lions

 

Storylines – vs Concord University

Veteran coach Kenny Osborne's Mountain Lions are playing their best ball of the season entering Saturday's game at the Prior Center. Concord has won four consecutive games and currently sits in sixth place in the league standings. The Mountain Lions are led by a pair of post players. Madis May is scoring 16.8 points per game while grabbing 7.3 rebounds per contest. Meanwhile, freshman Riley Fitzwater  is averaging a double-double at 13.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. Fitzwater is shooting a MEC best 69.8 percent from the field while also leading the country in the category. Fitzwater's 12.1 rebounds a night also leads the league while ranking sixth nationally.  May and Fitzwater help Concord to a league leading 45.4 percent shooting percentage as a team.

UVa-Wise will shoot for its sixth consecutive win over Concord University when the Mountain Lions visit the Prior Center Saturday. The Cavaliers are currently 1-2 on their four-game home stand. Sophomore Cynita Webb has been the driving force by Elise Clyburn's squad. The forward is averaging 10.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per game to setup a battle of the league's premier post players. UVa-Wise has found success on the boards, winning the glass by +2.4 rebounds per game. Concord is winning battle the boards by 4.6 rebounds a night but has surrendered 13.9 offensive rebounds per game. Turnovers could also play a big role in deciding Saturday's outcome. The Mountain Lions are averaging 17.8 turnovers per game while the Cavs are turning it over 22.5 times a contest.
