Storylines –MEC QuarterfinalsWest Liberty enters the game as co-champions of the Mountain East Conference but, the Hilltoppers were no where to be found in the most recent Atlantic Region rankings. Thus, Thursday's game against UVa-Wise is critical if coach Lynn Ullom's team is going to advance to regional play. Two 'Toppers earned all-conference accolades, including Kailee Howe who is averaging 15.3 points and 9.6 assists per game. Howe and teammate Liz Flowers both earned First-Team All-MEC honors. Flowers posted a league best 20.4 points per game during the regular season.

Katie Jo Dockery made sure that her career would not come to a close Tuesday at Concord. The Oakwood, Virginia native scored all 14 of her points in the opening half as UVa-Wise raced out to a 15-point lead at intermission. In total, five Cavaliers scored in double figures, led by
Taylor Sandidge who made 12-16 free throws en route to 18 points.
Kayla Carey fell one rebound shy of a double-double in the win as she tallied 10 points and nine boards. It marked the second consecutive season that UVa-Wise has went on the road and won an opening round tournament game. Last season, the team traveled to South Euclid, Ohio and defeated the Falcons. UVa-Wise and West Liberty played twice in the regular season with the Hilltoppers winning both meetings. However, the combined margin of victory was just eight points in the two meetings.
