Cavalier Women Fall Short to the Golden Eagles

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – University of Charleston shot 53.5 percent from the floor Saturday to defeat UVa-Wise 60-54 at the Eddie King Gymnasium.

The Cavaliers (9-16, 8-11 MEC) had three players finish in double figures. Blair Harding led the way for UVa-Wise with a game-high 16 points and six rebounds. Katie Jo Dockery finished with 11 points, while Taylor Sandidge added 10 points.

The Cavaliers shot 35.4 percent from the floor and 77.8 percent from the free throw line.

The Golden Eagles (20-5, 15-4 MEC) also had three players finish in double figures. Nichole Perry finished with 11 points and four assists, Kiara Johnson added 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Monet Saunders finished with 10 points and six rebounds for Charleston.

The Golden Eagles scored 12 points off turnovers, while the bench added 19 points.

UVa-Wise will return to action Thursday at Shepherdstown, West Virginia against Shepherd University.
