Storylines – West Virginia State gameWest Virginia State enters Thursday's game 2-2 in its last four contests. Both Yellow Jackets' victories came on their home floor, most recently David Smith's squad claimed an 83-73 win over West Virginia Wesleyan. All but two of State's wins have come on its home floor, the Yellow Jackets are just 2-6 on the road and suffered a 72-58 setback to the Cavaliers earlier this season. In that game, four State players scored in double digits led by Trina Current's 13 points. UVa-Wise turned the ball over a season-low four times in the win and made 12 of 14 free throws. On the season, the Yellow Jackets are led by Shealyn Shafer who leads the team in points at 12.6 per game and rebounds at 8.4 a night. Shafer scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the first meeting between the two schools.
