Storylines – Notre Dame GameMonday's game between UVa-Wise and Notre Dame College is a pivotal game for both squads as the teams head down the home stretch of the Mountain East Conference season. Currently, Notre Dame sits in fifth place, the last team not to receive a first round bye in the MEC Tournament if the season ended today. However, four teams are tied for first place, just one game ahead of the Falcons. Meanwhile, UVa-Wise is in eighth place, the final team to host an opening round tournament contest. Coach Katie Hine's Notre Dame team has one of the premier performers in the league in junior Martha Nagbe. Nagbe averages 18.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, three assists, and 2.2 steals a game. In the first meeting between the two squds, UVa-Wise limited Nagbe to 5-19 shooting as she played all 40 minutes.
About UVa-WiseBlair Harding had one of the finer games of her junior season on Saturday when she scored 29 points and collected a season-high 13 rebounds in a 75-58 win over Urbana. The Cavalier defense also had one of its stronger showings of the year as Urbana turned the ball over 23 timesand made just 3-14 3-point attempts in suffering its second loss of the season to UVa-Wise.
Taylor Sandidge added 15 points while
Kayla Carey scored 12 points in the win. Coach
Kristin Kunzman's team will be looking for its fourth win against the Falcons in five tries. The Cavaliers won two of three meetings last year, including a win in the MEC Tournament, before winning in South Euclid earlier this season.
