Storylines – West Virginia State GameThe Yellow Jackets enter the contest coming off of back-to-back Mountain East Confernce wins. Most recently, West Virginia State posted a 51-45 road victory over West Virginia Wesleyan. Shealyn Shafer leads the attack for the Yellow Jackets as she is averaging a team-high 12.7 points a night while also grabbing 7.3 rebounds a contest. As a team, West Virginia State relies heavily on its defense. The Yellow Jackets are limiting opponents to 36.8 percent shooting and 62.4 points per game.

Blair Harding (17.8 ppg), Carey (11.8), and
Taylor Sandidge (11.1 ppg) combine to account for over 60 percent of the team's scoring. Thursday's game will be UVa-Wise's first MEC road game since playing at Glenville State on December 6. In three league road games thus far, the Cavaliers have posted a 2-1 record. The trip to Institute, W.Va. is the only road game in a span of six contests for the team.
