STORYLINES – WEST VIRGINIA STATE UNIVERSITY GAMEThe Yellow Jackets enter the contest 1-12 overall and 1-3 in the Mountain East Conference. West Virginia State is led by junior Dominic Phillips who is scoring 16.4 points per game and grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game. Most recently, the Yellow Jackets came up a little short in a 65-63 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan College on Monday. In that contest, Markee Mazyck connected on six free throws and three 3-pointers to score a team-high 21 points while Phillips added 18 points, five assists and four steals. Senior Damion Harris also assisted the pair with five points and five rebounds. As a team, West Virginia State is making 5.8 3-pointers a game and grabbing 40.4 rebounds per game. Overall, the Yellow Jackets are scoring 70.2 points a night while allowing 79.2 points.

At home, UVa-Wise dropped a 118-113 overtime loss against West Virginia State, as the Cavaliers made 45.8 percent of their shot attempts from the floor and received a game-high 35 points from
Deon Boyce and added a game-high 20 rebounds. On the road, the Yellow Jackets defeated the Cavaliers 84-81, but not before Boyce put up a fight. The senior finished with a team-high 27 points and a game-high 24 rebounds. The Cavaliers shot 40.5 percent from the field in that defeat.
