Box Score WISE, Va. – Nationally ranked number one West Liberty proved its ranking valid in its 113-82 victory over UVa-Wise at the Prior Center on Monday.
The Hilltoppers (11-0, 6-0 MEC) had four players finish in double figures. CJ Hester finished with a game-high 23 points, Indiana Faithfull added 21 points, Seger Bonifant finished with 20 points and Zac Grossenbacher added 13 in the victory for West Liberty. The Hilltoppers out rebounded the Cavaliers 48-29 and dished out 29 assists in their season opening 11 consecutive win.
UVa-Wise (1-10, 0-6 MEC) also had four players score in double figures. Matt Day led the Cavaliers with a team-high 20 points and eight rebounds. Philip Owens II finished with 18 points and eight assists, while Brian Sydnor added 14 points and eight rebounds and Charles George added 13 points for UVa-Wise. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 42.6 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from behind the arc and 81.5 percent from the line.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Thursday in Institute, West Virginia against West Virginia State.
